Living Crafts Magazine feature 03/02/2012
My apple basket design was featured on the Living Crafts Magazine blog- you can check it out here: http://www.livingcrafts.com/blog/friday-gallery/new-friday-gallery Add Comment So I decided I had enough project ideas in my head to go fantasy shopping on the KnitPicks website today. For those of you who are not familiar with fantasy shopping for yarn, you are probably better off. It really is the pinnacle of having gone off the deep end except that there is not damage done monetarily, only to the psyche. So here's the gig. You go to said site and fill your cart with all the yarn you could possibly need for your projects. And that's it. {crickets chirping} You see, it's FANTASY shopping- you aren't actually going to BUY the darn stuff. That would be insane. Because everyone knows it's also a fantasy to think that all of those products are going to get finished in a reasonable amount of time and then SOLD to make all that fantasy money you have the vision of making, lol. But doesn't it make you feel awesome knowing all that cyber yarn is just sitting there in that cyber cart... just waiting for the time that you might actually click the 'checkout' button? Make this bag! (Free pattern alert) 02/04/2012
This little bag was the result of a botched attempt at a cowl scarf. I figured out, after investing a few hours, that the knit was just too tight for the scarf. So it became this bag :) Materials needed: 1 skein of worsted weight yarn, size 11 knitting needles, set of (4) size 6-7 double pointed needles, yarn needle, about 25 inches of 1/2- 3/4 inch ribbon Pattern notes: This piece is knitted in a flat panel and then sewn together at sides. Using size 11 needles, double your yarn (knit two strands together) and cast on 26 stitches Waffle stitch: First row: k2, p1 repeat to last two stitches times, k2 Second row: p2, k1, repeat to last two stitches, p2 Third row: repeat row 1 Fourth row: repeat row 2 Fifth row: Knit all Sixth row: Purl all You will repeat this stitch pattern 8 times and bind off. You should have a panel that looks like this: You will now fold in half, right sides together and stitch up the sides: Turn right side out and thread the ribbon over and under each section of pattern (each "waffle") and tie into a bow. Using your double pointed needles you will create an i-cord the length you want your handle. I did a cast on of 9 stitches divided evenly. Stitch this to the inside of the bag on both sides and you're done! Contract with Craftsy.com 01/17/2012
So I am SUPER excited to have gotten a contract to teach a tapestry crochet workshop on Craftsy.com! It's going to be an interesting a challenging class but one geared toward beginner crocheters. First Post! 12/30/2011
